2020 Year in Review (and the lost 2019 Year in Review)

2020 has been another good year for me following on the upward trend from 2019 as I further my goal of doing more fan stories.

Spending Mother's Day continues to be a project that keeps expanding from my original idea of being just 3 chapters long. I'd like 2021 to be the final year, but who knows how long certain chapters might take.

My Jessie story was a resounding success (so far) - one I never even expected to chart as well as it did, as it was an old idea I had that I wrote following burn out from the Mother's Day fic.

There's not much to talk about though; I get to do what I love and that's about the size of it, so to add some filler, here's a list of what I think of my stories:

My best plot: The Long Weekend
My best story: Mortal Kombat: A Forced Hero
My favorite porno: Resident Evil: Ménage à Trois
My worst story/plot/anything: Substitute Lover

I hope this changes at some point (except the last one, it can stay my worst), and feel free to disagree in the comments, but this has been my opinion for awhile.

To make this blog post even longer, this was originally written at the end of 2019, but I just never finished it (shocking, I know). I was planning to make this a yearly thing, but of course, I just got too heavily sidetracked with the Mother's Day story, which was more important to finish than this. So here it is:

2019 is one of my strongest years of output, not since I first started in 2013 have I been so willing to put out stories to be read - but as good as that sounds, 2019 could also be one of my worst. If I haven't improved as a writer... I can only keep to that grind of reading/writing and hope for improvement. There's nothing much else I can do.

Now, I just need to address the elephant in the room: Those Sonic stories I did.

Finished stories: 4
Amount of words: 45,621
Co-authors at the start of the project: 3
Co-authors at the end of the project: 1

The question is: Why? Why write about this at all? Sonic the Sissyhog was just something I was into at the time. If I was a musician, just think of it as one of my weird periods where I got heavily into synthwave or something. Hope you can forgive me. I want to stick to more standard fare from now on. Heck, I even originally wanted to put them up on a different account, but I thought two fold, it could add diversity to my portfolio and expose my work in a way that it hadn't been seen before. On both fronts, I think it worked, but I didn't think about the third issue: Possible alienation of my audience. To me, this is just not my general bread and butter, so don't hold it against me, because I totally understand and I won't do it again (not to mention I'm bored of it).

Now onto the bad of 2019

*I still haven't put out a new update for the Infamous story/game
*I didn't put out a new chapter to several stories
*Several stories I have close to finished that just need polishing still aren't up

Despite my faults, I hope you had a merry Christmas and please have a happy new year.

  1. The Infamous: A Titan Story download link has expired/been removed, that needs to get fixed.
